Need help with wheel offsets

Hi all. Sorry to ask what my be a stupid question but I'm trying to figure out what size spacers I need to order to run my new wheels. They were originally ordered for a 997 and thus the offsets are; front: 19x8.5", 50; rear: 19x11.5", 62. Now my question is I'm not sure how width plays into offset? I know I'd like the front and rear as flush with the fender line as possible. Appreciate any feedback!

A fairly aggressive offsets are 42/37; a 8mm up front and 25mm on the rear. I got this info from another board member.

I just ordered wheels with the same dimensions from HRE. They spec'ed out the wheels at a 44 offset both front and rear. I am using 235 tires in front and 315 in back. That's a huge difference compared to your rear offset of 62. What size tires are you using?

I am running the same sized tires as you are (its the only size combination I've been able to find in a 19" sized thats compatible with the 996 AWD system). The specs seem to be about 20mm off in the rear which isn't horrible I guess. The reason for these offsets is that the wheels are off a 997, I just got a great deal on them and didn't want to pass it up. I guess I should have asked more questions at the time.

Like a previous poster suggested, you definitely need AT LEAST 25mm spacer to make it look nice.

25 mm is a full inch. That seems like a lot of space. You'd need longer bolts. I'd be worried about the integrity of that system. Sell them on eBay and get yourself a properly fitted set of wheels.

Are you planning on running the car at a track/auto-x? I've seen guys run 30+mm in the rear without a problem. I think if it's a daily, you should be fine
