2004 996tt GT700+ NO BOOST
2004 996tt GT700+ NO BOOST
I did a pretty deep search and couldn't find anything relative.
Car in our workshop has a GT700 kit plus intercoolers, tbody, and y-pipe. Original build was a year ago. Ran like a top until this week.
Car builds absolutely ZERO boost. Has a CEL for major evap leak, but we have traced that to a split in the charcoal canister. Shouldn't affect power.
No smoking, no noises, runs perfectly. Other than the fact that it goes about as well as a C4S. Cluster gauge reads 0.0bar. PST2 confirms that reading.
Actuators appear to be intact, moving freely. Nothing obvious on the motor as to problems.
Customer says nothing happened prior to the loss of power, it just happened.
Have contacted EVO for advice, figured I would increase my odds a bit.
Thoughts?
Chris

If turbos working there must be a boost leak. I would check turbo impellers, if ok then pressure up system and look for leaks. Although not seen a leak that large without a light.

I had this identical problem last spring. The dealer checked for leaks, ECU problems, and also if the car was in valet mode.
Mine ended up to be a piece of metal from one of the headers that had come off, and got stuck in the turbo, and for some reason, the wastegate on the other turbo was not adjusted properly, which resulted in zero boost.
When I spoke to EVO, first thing they suggested to check were the turbos.
Don't know if this is of any help in your situation though, but it sounds similar.

could be anything.... start with a boost leak at the turbos... inspect the turbos wheels...

Same thing happened to Powell about a year ago. Turned out his compressor wheels ate the rubber reducer rings on both sides and got all chewed up. Hope this isn't the case with yours, but sounds like it.

We're pulling the turbos on monday morning. Start with the exhaust and see if we can see anything from there.
We shall see. I'll post up the findings for sure.
Thanks for the ideas, although they all sort of point the same way I was hoping they wouldn't! hehe
