I'd say it's an excellent DD...

As for insurance, I pay just as much for my modded TT (mods are insured also) as I do for my 01 M3 daily...

It is really a non-issue if you ned to sell your IS first (which will never happen at your asking price).

Forum rules prohibit me from saying so in your FS thread, but not here.

I have had zero repairs. Just maintenance, which was an oil change.

My only issue is a rear wing problem (common). I don't care that it doesn't go up, but the red light annoys me!
how's the car in the snow? You put snow tires on it in the winter? If so, what setup are you running?

My 01 has 40k miles and it has not let me down. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

From my perspective and being similar in age to you, 26, I would not get the car as a DD. I am currently trying to close on a house, and afterwords Im purchasing a 45-55k 996 turbo. I am keeping my '00 prelude for the job of DD so I have as few issues as possible with the TT.

Also, I think I should add that I work at Wal-Mart and don't really trust my car (which is closer to being considered an exotic here in Albuquerque) in the parking lot everyday.

So you may still sell your current car, but perhaps purchase a cheaper reliable DD as well. Just my $0.02.

And just a small footnote to add. If your single and drive your turbo to first dates all the time, you may give the wrong impression to a girl you really like, but if your going out to have a good time and hit on chicks, it could be a good idea .

Point 1 is excellent advice. Not sure I understand point 2. At 26 a good time should be your ONLY goal. Why is the impression of sophistication and success wrong? Are you saying you can't spot a gold digger?

i got some low-ball offers on it already, and a few people saying they're trying to get funds together. i'll probably end up getting ~$26,000CDN for it realistically. Cars cost a lot more in Alberta than anywhere else. Anyway, i'm still on the fence about this car, but everyone i've talked to outside 6speedonline says its a bad idea because of the maintanence and they figure something is going to go horribly wrong with the car, and its just not a good idea for a daily driver. My dad has a 996tt-s that he uses as a daily; right through winter. he hasnt had any problems except he has to get the battery replaced every winter for some strange reason. Dont know what to do yet. Everyone is advising me to get an IS-F instead because of the warranty and cheap maintanence.

oh and for picking up chicks or whatever, that's not my goal here. if it was, i probably wouldn't buy a porsche -- i haven't met one girl that likes porsche yet. seems like girls around here like the Acura RL or BMW 7er more than a porsche!

The 996tt is totally capable of being a dd. I haven't had mine in the snow yet but with the engine over the rear tyres and awd I would think it would do very well. The only downside is space, the trunk is very small and the back seat is for pets your size 0 g/f or people you don't like.
Mine has been completely trouble free and I'm running bigger turbos etc.

^ that's a good point. All my girlfriends so far have been size 0 and i wasn't planning on going any bigger. Bigger turbos, maybe.. bigger g/f's, definitely not. Hrm, size double 00?
