Anyone ever had this happen? I searched but couldn't find anything on it. Yesterday the control unit started flickering and the a/c would cut in and out as it tried to turn itself on then flicker off, even if turned to 'off' the lcd screen still flickered. Finally after about an hour it went dark and now doesn't work at all. Its not just the lcd screen the buttons don't work and now the a/c wont turn on (not an a/c problem, its the actual head unit).

I took it out and the connections are fine, so dunno what else to try. Is this thing fried or does anyone have some other ideas? Some sort of reset or anything?

This is in a 2001 996tt with 39k miles, previous owner relocated the ac from the lower console to upper if that matters but never had a problem (yesterday was my first day of ownership...)

I guess worse could have happened on a 20 hr road trip...
