New Cayenne cousin

Well my wife's Jeep was falling apart faster than I could put it together. So I gave in and put her in a new car. I ran over to the Porsche and with 40 Cayenne's on the lot they would not deal at all. So I ran a block down the street and took a look at this. The VW Touareg. The two are made in the same factory on the same line then split for some minor differences. There is about 30HP difference (which I will make up for) between the two and the nose, hood and headlights are different. The interior is similar, but carries an Audi feel. More options and do-dads then you can shake a stick at. I am more than pleased with the Touareg and at over 15K less than the Cayenne "S" I am smiling from ear to ear. These new breed of SUVs are fast and handle well. Makes my Grand Cherokee look like a tank. The other thing was I drove the 6 cylinder version which will show up in the Cayenne shortly. Talk about a slug. Oh my, the poor thing was struggling to get out of its own way. Just thought I would share for those looking for a winter alternative to the TT.

Stephen, that suv is beautiful. Go to my hobbystage and do something like my muffler on the turbo or get the one that Fabspeed has. It is the one thing you really need to do to bring that great sound out. I tell everyone to get the vw if they are not getting the turbo cayenne.

Great color by the way..

Doug

Thanks.....I told my wife we need to do a little something to the exhaust. It sounds great in the car, but I would like to hear a little of that rumble out of the tail pipe as well.

I am impressed with the 8 cyln though. It really scoots. Now, a chip, maybe some forced induction Hmmm, never know.

For the cost difference I am beside myself. Audi did a, I mean Porsche....Argh VW has a nice rig.

The Touareg is even nicer looking in person. BTW, for any of you Cayenne owners don't like the look of it's aluminium B and C pillars, the Touareg's nice shiny black ones are an easy direct replacement - will make the Cayenne look lower and meaner rather than tall and tippy.

The Touareg is a very nice vehicle. The 6-cyl is ridiculous, IMO. A 6500lb SUV needs a little more beef than that. It shouldn't even be an option.
