Lets see if you can run low 6's up here. if so that would be incredible. We have plenty of cars around here so we should get a very good sampling of performance spectrum.

My best in my P-car on 93 was 5.52 (perfect conditions, perfect run).

My best so far in my Z06 is 5.73 (hot, humid)..but I "think" the car is good for low 5's. Bone stock it went 7.86.

So, Scott, what would it take for a typical 996/997 platform to run in the mid-upper 5's on pump like your Porsche?

I'm not looking for exact details on how much you spent, but more of a mod list to give an idea what kind of power/mods would be necessary.

If given the choice, I'd certainly prefer a Porsche that can run in the 5's on pure pump gas over most other makes(even a vette) because of the quality.

However, it is much more likely a car like your vette, or even mine for that matter, would make it into the mid 5's on pump only(with F/I), due to displacement/power potential.

It takes a LOT. I had cam work, head work, giant ICs, a huge intake and a custom exhaust w/o cats, etc... plus some big turbos. The motor will need to be able move a hell of a lot of air. I think my car is the only Porsche to have done it to date, but I imagine that most of the other full-up build cars could do it as well, given the right conditions. Of course, weight will always play a part too.

As far as power goes, it looks like the only cars that have gotten into the 5's have made 700'ish+ whp (although the GT2's can probably be in the 670'ish range due to thier lightweight).

I totally agree.

Absolutely. I agree 100%.

My best pump only 60-130 (NO METH) was 6.61 on 93 @1.2 bar.

definitely moving. If I can run that time, I would be more than happy. I'll know by the end of the year.

Another interesting note is how powerful the Veyron is. To think that it ran 5.6 60-130 and it probably did it as part of a full acceleration run all on pump says a lot.

Well you figure it is a 4000lb car with a (probably underclaimed)1000hp. Guys on the forum with a little less power and a little less weight are running 4's, so not surprising. But yes, I wonder what a dedicated 60-130 would be for that car...didn't that tt Lambo run a mid 3? Probably a comparable car power to weight wise although a little different power wise? (wheels for lambo vs crank for Veyron)

Oh and the veyron weighs 4500 lbs, so you were a 1/4 ton off in weight.

Porky can move

seriously, Scott ran just a hair faster than a stock Veyron and he had one of the fastest 996tt's around.

I know what it took for me to run what I ran, so mad respect for anyone running faster, especially THAT much faster...

true. your time on pump was very good, and to me that means more because it is directly comparable to other cars.
