Sorry man I don't know whether or not they cover out of warranty cars. The car was under the factory warranty when I got it, so there was no lapse in coverage. You can get it from almost any easycare dealer. I got mine from Beverly Hills BMW.

I bought the fidelity "gold" warranty and have used it once... For a MAFS. When the car came back from the dealership with chemical spots and scratches, I was done... Shoulda cashed it in and shopped for another policy, but I have been doing everything myself...

I also have a unique relationship with the dealership that sold me the car, already modified as a stage 3 car, and then sold me the warranty as well... They know how Fidelity operates. They also know that for the remainder of the warranty, whatever Fidelity doesn't cover, they're on the hook for. That is IF I ever use the warranty again...

I'm in the same boat as this guy. Can anyone answer question whether you have to get a warranty only through a dealership?

You are in California. TAFAIK, te department of insurance requires a physical presence and significant financial backing for a company to offer a policy- net result is only a dealer will sell a policy. (There are some things you can get on line, but they are very limited in coverage.)

You really need to read the threads on warranties and coverage. Any mods and you should forget about coverage.

Fidelity just covered fixing my rear wing failure, and I had a nail in my front right tire unbeknownst to me. 2.5k of parts and labor and they covered 100%. Hooray!
