Porsche Sport Driving School

OK - I have been thinking about this for awhile - I signed up for the 2 days school in mid-September. Any of you tried this? Seems like a good way to enjoy the marque and perhaps learn a little about the cars and how to drive them. Feedback?

Should be excellent. I would like to do it myself. Only thing is Porsche Club DE's are 1/10th the price for a weekend. Of course you may have some professional teaching you rather than more experienced club members. Do you know who any of your instructors will be?

Hurley Haywood is the head instructor, but I doubt he will be in the car with me. The rest of the instructor staff all have good racing resumes in open wheel and sport racing etc. They are all full time staff and seem to have lots of experience. Anybody tried it? I will report back on my experience when I return in late Sept.

I took the two-day course a couple of years ago and it was a blast. And, at least at that time, you had a lot of time with Hurley in the cars.

Its an awesome experience!!..... so much fun, driving on the track is great, your instructor will start slow and progressivly speed up until you cant/ or can keep up with him or you catch up to other cars.

The autocross gets real competitive within your group, and trying to keep up with the instructors times!

It will definately be something you talk about for a while after going. Enjoy

If you have a few buddies to go with it makes it that much better.

where is this school located (which track(s)) and do you use your own cars or are cars provided? i recently completed bondurant's grand prix speciality course, but this also sounds fun.

The track is Barber Motorsports track near Birmingham AL. They provide the cars - you are not allowed to use your own car. The cars they provide are the 997, 997S, 997 turbo, Boxter S, Cayman S, Cayenne S and Cayenne turbo. So a good selection. Visit the website at http://www.porschedriving.com for a look see.
