Topeka Kansas PCA Club race

Was anyone at the PCA club race in Topeka, Kansas this weekend and see Phil Collin of the Chicago area absolutely devour the field in his liquid-cooled GT3R powered Fabcar built and prepared by Sol Snyderman's Perfect Power. The car was fantastic and was clearly the class of the small but diverse field of well prepared and well driven Porsches. The track, Heartland Park, is set to see many improvements under the ownership and management of Raymond Irwin, who also owns Blackhawk. Great job Philip; can't wait to see you and Perfect Power back in Topeka!

Great photos! I especially like the red '91 turbo (with Ruf wheels). I'm biased; it's my car. Did you get any pics of Philip's blue Fabcar--either before or after he made "love" to the wall?

Yes we were there. I missed Sol. Apparently he was across the lot yelling for me. I was a sponsor and scrutineer for the race. Great turn out and a perfect weekend.

Sol's car ran great. Pretty impressive to watch. It took me a while to figure out that was Sol's car until I realized it was about a half of lap ahead of the bunch.

Stephen: I looked for you as well; saw your car (who could miss it) but never got a "bead" on you. In any event, you and your follow sponsors did a great job. Everyone I talked to had a great time. Thanks for everything. You are right, Philip's GT3R powered Fabcar which Sol (Perfect Power) built and prepared was just great, and boy it just sounded unbelievable. Thanks again Stephen for your sponsorship and hands-on work. Great job. Phil

My pleasure. We were pleased the event turned out like it did. It has been some time since we had a National PCA race here. We use to have the SCCA runoffs here as well. With the new configuration of the track we are hoping to sponsor more events. As of Tues of last week our count on drivers was less than 20. Last count I sae on Fri was 40+. I suspect people were concerned about the weather. We couldn't have asked for better weather!

Topeka PCA Race

Hi Phil and Stephen,
The weather was beautiful except for the 40-50mph winds on Friday and Saturday! On Friday afternoon, going into turn one at 135 mph, a 50 mph wind gust lofted our car (and driver) off the track doing some pretty serious damage to our carbon fiber. Three rolls of teal and purple duct tape had us back out for Saturdays first run. Here is a picture of old number 21 from Topeka after the repair. Note the purple tape r.s. headlight and all the tape randomly covering splintered carbon fiber. Sorry I missed you Stephen.

Sol

Same here Sol. Aaron said you walked right by me. Sorry about that. I was trying to tell Joe better he ran into the wall Fri. than Sat. LOL. Car looked great on the track. I was standing on the last turn with my wife and boys Sat and they thought that your car was the coolest! Takes alot to impress those two

i can't think any sane person could look at a color chart and pick that color green for a race car. after seeing the car race with other cars it becomes perfectly clear. watching phillip come pounding down the back-staight at Road America, downshift through the gears, pour through turn 5 then squirt up the hill is almost a religous experience. after witnessing this many times i am always left with an awe-induced smile.
