k16 / 16G on pre existing flash

Has anyone had any experience with running k16/16G turbos on a pre existing flash from another tuner(no I'm not a cheapskate)!

I have an FVD flash on a tip (k16 turbos) along with DV's and filter.
Very happy with the tune(consitently reaches 1 Bar) and was wondering if it will work well with K16 / 16G.

If not, why not.

I may be wrong, but you probably won't get all that the 16Gs have to offer if you don't get the tune updated.

Thanks coastalb55, I remember reading a while ago on this board about someone who did that and was getting 1 bar boost on stock K16 and then 1.2 Bar on K16 / 16 G and was quite happy , but couldn't find it with a recent search.

You could well be right.

Given how popular k16 / 16g's have become, hoping someone with experience might also chime in.

16G's move MUCH more air than your k16's are moving, you will be running pretty lean with no tune and making no more power without the tune for them....

Boca Good to see fellow Tipsters chime in. I'm waiting to hear back from FVD, but I doubt it, since they don't sell the k 16 / 16 G...but you live and learn?

BTW, I noticed from other threads that you were also looking at either K16 / 16 G or 24 / 18's upgrade..what did you decide to do?

I got no doubt that the 24/18 are more powerful, but the risks associated with Tip ownership cause me to shy away from them.

I have not decided with which upgrade yet.. choices are the K16hybrid or the k24/18..the tuners I have spoke with dont think the k24/18 will be a problem for the tip as long as you dont beat on it.. I am still thinking what I want to do... to be honest I just dont know how much $ I want to put into the car being I would like to get back into a Gallardo.. good luck on your set up.. let me know what you think of the performance difference once you get it all set up..

I don't believe FVD has 16G flash. Go with the 18G's and buy a Torque converter. At 1.2bar your car will be deadly fast...

I think they're probably right..the trouble is, it's a temptation difficult to resist when the testosterone kicks in...

Best of luck with whatever you decide to go with.

Thanks...I'm thinking along similar lines.

At the moment, it's a distant second option...due to added cost and installation of TC as well as an additionnal tranny oil cooler(if you can find one off the shelf).

If a reflash is essential with the K16G's though, that will probably be the route I'll take.
