One more question. In looking at the timing. Under full boost, the car goes from minimal timing advance 0-3 degrees at 5,000 RPM, to a little over 10 degrees of ADVANCE near redline.

Are you guys seeing THAT much advance under boost near redline?

Sorry Zip. some confusion I guess...

Ari, I believe these cars do NOT retard timing after 6000rpm, regardless of tune. My guess is because they don't make that much TQ after 6k to warrant some timing retard? Could be wrong, ask your tuner...

Ari,
That timing is really conservative (low). I guess that is what a 91 oct pump file looks like. My 93 oct pump file had 16.5 degrees at redline and my race gas file has 19.5 degrees.

Nice data collection Ari. I also think it's ok. Love those #4 and #5 option below. I am especillay interested in the Valet's graph

Looking at the graphs, it certainly looks closer to mid 11s in the midrange and gets richer as it goes to redline. It also looks a tad leaner in 2nd than it does in 3rd... But I agree it's too rich.

I'll do a few more pulls tomorrow and go from 1500 to redline in 3rd. Shifting gears doesn't really show a full progression.

It was about 95 degrees when doing those logs.

I will say I am very happy with the GIAC programming. The handheld switcher lets me choose between 5 files:
  1. Low Boost
  2. High Boost
  3. 100 Octane
  4. Valet
  5. Kill
Anyone know what setting looks for timing retard or knock in the Durametric?

The stock 996 tuning (and I believe some aftermarket tunes) do not pull any timing above 6k. EPL's code can retard timing all the way to redline if necessary (a good safety feature, IMO).
