You really need to think this through. Absolutely NOT true. I'd say a CPO covers 50% of the things that fail, in general... just a gut feeling.

SaikoE36 is infamous around these parts
well im looking at it this way

2002 911 Turbo 50k OTD__________ vs ______________2005 turbo S 65k OTD
-25k miles _______________________________________-10k miles
-No warranty _____________________________________- warranty
-No Navi (can always add)__________________________ - stock Navi
-Black on Black____________________________________ - black on Black
-6speed__________________________________________ - 6speed
-HRE Rims(5000) __________________________________- upgraded turbo
-Stage 1 (1000)___________________________________ - PCCB brakes
-Springs (500) ____________________________________-Newer year
_________________________________________________-more power

In the long run i think the 02 will be less money for me if it doesnt run into any major issues, but the i would have a peace in mind with the warranty.

The 05 i wouldnt worry about the stage 1 cause it already has bigger turbos, and i can just lower it and put rims on it which would cost me more in the long run. but would have a better resale value in the long run with lower miles right?

I just dont know whats on my mind but i love them both either way I may just have to buy them both, lol jk. Is there anyone who went from a 2002 TT to a TT X50 and has loved it better..

i dont really plan on doing a lot of big mods to either cars just lower exhuast springs rims and maybe gt2 rear wing. i know either way i cant go wrong, but does the turbo S really a big difference from the regular turbos? Is the turbo with the stage 1 have the same power as the S has stock? what are the pros and cons i guess of owning a S rather than the base turbo besides what ive listed

the other one is from beverly hills porsche http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

It basically has all the mods i want on the car, and im wondering what to do. If i was to get the 03 id probably just lower it, and put rims, maybe the gt2 wing, i wonded upgrade the turbos or anything so it wouldnt void the warrenty but thats no fun. but i do want the CPO car because i know ill be covered for the most part. But i guess what im saying is that if i get the 02 do you think i will run into major problems which will require me to take to the dealer? Cause i work on my m3 on my own and i know the porsche is gonna be a bit difficult at first.
your link didnt work, so i can't tell anything about the car you're looking at from BH porsche.. . is the one @ bhillsp the one for $60k arctic silver w/ chrono pkg etc??? ( if memory serves ) if so, i thought it was overpriced. i enquired about it when i was looking here in la for one a few months ago and bought my 02 at another dealer here with 27k on 'er and incredibly well maintained two owner car.

as to POTENTIAL! issues you might want to be aware of, many others and i have recently posted extensively in here about my 2nd gear "popout" issue which MANY have found to simply be par for the course with 01/04 tt's etc...
but as i purchased a "certified" low mileage car from a dealer and paid for the pcna warranty, the replacement of my trans which is now underway, and is indeed being fully covered by my warranty, was helped in large part by the fact that the issue ( do a search in here ) on the trans/synchro issues is WELL documented and known to PCNA and i would assume all dealers..

initially, it appeared i might be in for a fight, but after some friendly pre teardown consults with my service rep and tech as well as either pcna ( and or?? ) the owners of the dealership themselves ( they consulted among themselves i have to add! ) they have very kindly ( and rightly i would say ) agreed to cover all the replacement costs, as they should...esp given that the damage to the trans on MY car occurred as a result of a pre condition ( inherent design flaw one could say .. - again, see/search the threads in here for 2nd gear popout etc )... and also before i purchased the car...so, it wasn'y my "fault" etc, and therefore it's "covered" under my warranty.

so, having said all that, i would STILL buy this car in a hot second again given the chance, as it's unlike any pcar i've ever had ( two other 911's that PALE in comparison! )..

...and add to all that the fact that my dealership has all but assured themselves by dealing with me squarely, that i will one day very soon ( sooner than later i am confident and hopeful ) take one of those GT2's off of their hands. there's a stunning '08 right now on the showroom floor that i'm already seriously considering trading in my girlfriend for. the gt2 has far less miles on 'er too!

point is, my car had a major problem immediately after purchase, they ( my dealership) stepped up and is doing the right thing, and will as a result, have my business for all of my next pcars, and that's gonna be a few. don't buy that year unless you buy the warranty and know the history of the car relative to the trans issue... is what i'd tell ya.

everyone else is far more qualified to give ya advice than i am..but mine is this

if you're concerned about warranty issues as i was ( and still am obviously! )..then i would stick w/ an x50 w low mileage from a dealer, rtaher than a stock 01/thru 05 etc. couple of reasons. first, your warranty is toast if ya buy a stock tt.. IF ya mod the car... ( and the x50 has MORE than enough juice if it's yours will be a "starter" tt, as it is mine )..you can get used to it, while its under warranty and/or do body stuff first ( as i plan to..)..and then as my warranty winds down, THEN i'm gonna stage/exhaust etc etc, as the warranty is less of an issue..

and my ultimate goal is to mod the sh*& out of it, over time, and eventually track the car as i've said, once the warranty issue doesn't exist for me (which today, is NOT the case ) and by then i'll have another as my dd anyway ( i'm torn btw a new 997 w/pdk ( fkn la traffic! ) and a gt2, as my next. of course, the 997 tt w pdk will be if i'm thinking with my head.. the gt2 will be if i'm thinking with my... never mind, you know what i mean.

but anyway.. thats my 02. good luck with whichever way ya go. i've driven a lot of stuff, but even a stock tt w/ x50 is no joke.. you'll be very happy, as anyone in here can attest. just get the warrantied vehicle,.. and don't rev 1 or 2 it,..and you''ll be fine.
