well this is my problem i have the power but my gearing is not allowing to get the maximum power in the band for ex i was racing an corvett zo6 he got to 160 a hell of lot quicker than i did thru out all speeds i take out most guys but i have problems with the big boys that have 6 speed gears i also am running a k 29 turbo too much turbo lag please help me what do i have to do to make this car a beast oh by the way this is my other toy i had this car since 1990
You should post on the Pelicanparts website, there's a wealth of knowledge about the aircooled cars over there. That being said, you should be running the 5-speed G50 transmission. Or if you don't mind spending the extra money and having some fab work done to your trans tunnel and going to coil overs in leu of the torsion bars, you could go all out for a 993TT 6-speed G64/20 transmission.
I know, I had a 86,930 with SC cams, intake, Koklen ic, headers, K27, 1 bar wg, etc. It was fast but it suffered from a lot of lag too. Something to consider but not cheap, is getting rid of the CIS injection and going to an EFI setup. I was quoted about 90 extra hp (I don't know if that was crank or rwhp) but it was around 8-9K. This was four years ago though so hopefully things have gotten cheaper.
