In-Car Phone Removal
Has anyone removed the phone from their car?
And if so how did you go about it?
I'm thinking or removing the handset as replacing the "kneepad" it's attached to as I'm not a 1980s pimp and have no use for it

Being so far away is kind of hard to help you out, but just follow the wires and remove all of the necessary trim pieces. If you do have to cut any wires just make sure they are not in any major wiring harnesses.

I'm guessing it'll just be a case of ....
Remove kneepad
disconnect handset
replace new kneepad
simply (one of those infamous five minute jobs)
the thing I need help with is what's the best way to remove the kneepad to begin with?

don't listen to the walnut, that's just jelously talking
everyone knows a carphone is a status symbol
it's a sign of class and sophistamication
this is something paulie clearly has no concept of
what other excuse could there be for driving a yellow car?

Start up near the passenger footwell, and pull out and slide the carpeted trim piece toward the front of the car. (There are two little plastic clips that hold it in place that will make a pop sound when you get them free.) That should give you a good view of what's going on in the back. On my non-phone equipped car, you can then just pull the wing (where your knee-pad is) off in the same manner. (Grab the end deepest into the footwell, and just pull it out. I believe there are two or three clips on this piece.) Again, there are just plastic clips holding it in. I would guess that there are screws and bolts in your phone install, so you'd want to take them out. The phone harness, in my car at least, has a plug that you can unhook. I know it's there because I tapped into it for my radar detector and Ipod install. My guess is that the wing on your console may need to be replaced with a "non-phone" version, as yours probably has at least one hole in it that the wires went through. If your interior isn't leather wrapped, they pop up on ebay all of the time. Good luck.
