Straight Pipes?
Straight Pipes?
I have the europipe loud and its just not that loud. Are the straight pipes too loud for the street? I am young so I can handle loud stuff, but the europipe loud honestly seems way quiet especially after driving car for a while. Also, do straight pipes give more hp than a euro? What straight pipes sound the best? Thanks in advance for the advice. Dan.
Straight pipes are loud and DO resonate, but I love driving with them. My only problem is cops can see me from a mile away when I have them on... The pipes I run are our FVD Race Pipes which not only replace the muffler, but also the catalytics
. They sound great and not to mention shoot some sweet flames
.
I have a video, but can't find it at the moment, I will post it as soon as I find it

You can have the best of both worlds, board sponsor RPM racing is customizing my exhaust to have a switch to go from straight pipe to regular muffler. These guys are great; contact them for pricing and options.
How many hours does it take to install the straight's? The europipe took 2.5 hours, but the straight pipe should take half that the time, right? I just dont want to spend 300 every time i make a swap. I plan on getting the straight pipes for the summer, they cant be that loud.
I guess loud is a relative term. I don't see how anyone could drive on the street with straight pipes.

Blah, you guys are wussies

Just kidding, they are loud and most can't take them (customers get pissed if I take them for a ride somwhere
). They do not bother me so much tho.
The other problem is other cars... I was driving next to my buddy when I had them on... I passed him at WOT @ around 5000RPM's in 4th on the highway and man did he get pissed. Said his ears were ringing for hours!!!

For those who think pure straight pipes are too loud, there is a middle ground . . . remove the cats (e.g., via a racing/bypass pipe), but retain the muffler, thereby decreasing back pressure, increasing power, decreasing spool time, but retaining noise supression. My car, sans cats, is not unreasonably loud (much quieter than a Fabspeed with cats), yet noticeably stronger than with even 100 cell RUF cats.

When I am not running the the straight pipes I run our FVD Export muffler with cat bypasses. Works great!!
