So as you may know my car is in the shop. It turns out that the drive shaft has to be replaced. So if I was going to do a rear wheel drive conversion this would be the time to do it. What are the pros and cons of rear wheel drive? What additional parts or things must I do to ensure good performance and safety.

Thanks for your help.

There are some older threads on this but I personally would not. Much rather prefer AWD esp if you are at a power level that is a bit higher. I feel just a very slight rear wiggle and then the car just hooks and goes straight. If it was RWD, not so much I bet!

Broken drive shaft, ya think? Hell yea, don't bother with the shaft. Take it all out. More power to the wheels.

This can be true, but I'm not having traction issues.

I would say yes but as usual there will be some people coming out to attack ones opinion. I lay it simple and sweet...your 0-60 will fall...you will improve 1/4 mile e.t. and mph....I've been through this road before....

If you go RWD, I've been told by many a reputable source that an LSD will be in your near future.

I was told for anything making any decent kind of power (over 500whp?) DEFINITELY for road course.
