Confusion about batteries
So long story short the battery in my 996tt is dieing. I've been looking at posts about battery recommendations. I'd like to stick with a Sears DIE HARD since these batteries have never given me any issue's. Anyways read a few threads that stated a group 47 battery will work and saves around 13LBS. But when i got to the Sears website it recommends a group 48 or group 49? So which should i get?

Silk55,
Check with Optima Red 34R. $189 @autozone and get mail-in $25 coupon. It looks fit without any mod and saves 12-13lb with good cranking amp. I nearly changed it but my interstate batt was still good. BTW. my 996tt has metal tray.

I have the optima. I got a bracket for it via a google search... http://www.yellowdogmotorsports.com/details.php?id=93 ....basically an aluminum sheet machined to fit the 996. Yes, you could make this yourself in a few minutes....
Drive the car or any battery will die on these things...the car just sucks juice sitting still. That is the key. The smaller the batter, the more frequently you should drive it or use a batter tender.

In your part of the world, I wouldn't "fiddle fart around" with a small battery.
So what if you save a few pounds in the wrong end of the car.
Buy a new full size battery and never worry about it being dead.
