996 C4S vs 996 TT as DD
996 C4S vs 996 TT as DD
With the prices of the TT dropping recently, there doesn't seem to be much of a $ difference with the C4S, but is it realistic and worthwhile to use TT as a DD?
Yes, great DD.....used mine that way for a year and a half over 20k miles. Then when I went to an aftermarket exhaust......not so good
A C4S is a poser wannabe.....slowest car in the 911 universe

Right...if you are looking for someone to talk you out of buying a turbo and picking up a C4S, you are fishing in the wrong pond fella...
Hey now!! I had an 08 C4S and it was awesome, it is not a TT by any means but you do not have to be a poser if you just want the Porsche car with the AWD with it. I think that the TT is an amazing DD even if modded.

+1 on that, bro! Seriously, I bought my tt as a weekend putt-arounder, and have wound up driving it almost daily, just because I enjoy driving it so much!
Although I don't use my 996TT as a daily driver, there is absolutely no reason that it couldn't make a terrific daily driver. It's easy to drive in traffic, reasonably comfortable, and would provide a lot of enjoyment on the daily commute. Keeping mine clean and keeping the mileage down are pretty much the only reasons I don't daily drive mine.
Having recently been in the same situation, I will expound and feel free anyone to correct my ignorance as I am a new to the Porsche family and simply want to give my perceptions.
Ultimately, a lot of this came down to price and security. I needed 4 seats to transport kids and all-wheel drive as I need to get around during the winter and this will be my daily driver. Therefore, the C4S and TT were my two options.
Obviously for the same year, I could have had a cheaper C4S than a turbo but several things swayed my decision to the turbo.
1. I would not get a warranty on either cars if the same year.
2. I was instructed to look at the turbos in the 01-02 years due to the type of engine involved. C4S=New engine TT=Carryover from 993 similar as I understand to the GT2/GT3.
3. As I was told by a PCA officer in my district, the maintenance of the TT is essentially no different than the C4S.
4. The emotional factor (I would definitely not discount this factor). I have always wanted a turbo porsche
5. For a 10-20% difference in price, the TT is well within reach.
6. If you want to spend equal amount to TT and want security, you can probably find a newer C4S with a CPO.
I spent about 1 year looking and researching before pulling the trigger. I am glad I took my time although almost made a big mistake on first attempt which I thankfully avoided.
PPI at reputable Porsche dealer a must!
Asking opinions on this forum a must! (I did not find the forum until I had purchased but in retrospect the knowledge base here is tremendous and the advice on Porsche buys has been similar to what I received from my PCA friend who guided my purchase.)
Happy Hunting.

I'm in the same ballpark, I was initially looking for a C4s just because I assumed a Turbo was out of my budget.. but they are so close in price it doesn't make sense NOT to get the Turbo!
