I'm pissed
I'm pissed
In August I went to my dealer & told him I wanted to order a turbo S. He took all the details & told me they would have no problem getting the car. We'll call you in January for the deposit, he said, and the car will be ready late spring, June at the latest. When I was again there a couple months later, he happily pointed out my name in grease pencil on the salesmens' wall, in line for a turbo S.
Today I noticed the dealer's website stated they had a turbo S in stock, so I called to find out the configuration. My salesman was out "for the rest of the month", so they gave me someone else. That car, he said, had been pre-ordered and delivered. They would only get one more, and it was only available (with options I don't want) because a customer had cancelled. What about my car? Can't get it. See my name up there on the list? Oh, we erased that. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T ANYONE CALL ME?!? No answer. Basically, take it or leave it.
WTF?!? I've always bought off the showroom floor before. Is this SOP for Porsche? Are these just the vagaries of pre-ordering, or am I justified in being this steamed?

Why should we be surprised by your post?
Actually, it seems there are several Turbo S coupes and cabs in dealer "stock" - see Eric Plug Guy's thread. Princeton Porsche has one on Ebay or Dupont. I think these cars may be "launch" cars that certain dealers were awarded for previous sales.

That is rediculous - I have ordered many porsches and the cars are delivered by the dealer as I speced out. That is an outrage and you better go to another dealer - any normal dealer would take a deposit and give you a space in line and a contract in hand.
dealer is a dealer...
i've been told the Turbo S will be limited production car in 05 but problem is how limited is limited? hate to see if this is another Porsche marketing thing but it's just sucks. for example there should be no 05 GT3 at least i was told early this year when i ordered mine. so far my dealer is telling me they've only got 5 spots for the S which i think is totally BS & later on more are gonna show up. honestly, the best way to do now is to find a nice used GT2 & call it a day. at the end at least GT2 is a GT2 not just a Turbo with a S.

Arling - My Swiss friend who is a contractor for P says there will be 560 MY05 TT "S" produced for worldwide distribution in Coupe and Cab combined. From what I am seeing on the dealer locator, that appears to be realistic.

So on the bright side of this story is, the guys who bought the 04 TT-Cabs may not be as upside down as they thought if the TurboS is really this "limited'.
Fred, this might be a good time to consider the 04TT X50 which you can probably get a great deal on! Just a thought....
Sorry to hear the dealer treated you the way they did. Some people just don't understand how to do business. "Their" loss!!

there are a few turbo S coupes floating around
most of the first wave of Cabs seem to have been 'pre-sold'.
sooner or later the cabs supply may be stronger, and there may be inventory.
look around, they are just starting to arrive now.
you are bound to find one that you like, but you may have to be flexible
personally when i'm spending more than 100k on a car, it has to be PERFECT, so i usually end up speccing it. especially with porsche and their virturlaly endless option list, it is difficult to 'randomly find' a perfect car.
