For those contemplating an SUV...

FYI....the Section 179 deduction of up to $100k only applies to vehicles 6,000 - 14,000 GVW purchased prior to October 22, 2004. If you purchased one October 23 or later, you can only write off up to $25K this year. If you want the $100k deduction you'll need an SUV with a GVW of 14,000 LB's ++

Glad I didn't buy that Range Rover I had my eye on last week, now now rush and may as well wait for the 2006 with the supercharged engine....

You forgot the 50%bonus depreciation is still available through Dec 31, so you can deduct more than $25K when used in business.

See your tax accountant for details.

IMO the BMW 4.4 is a better engine than the Ford/Jag 4.2 s/c. JMO

Ahh, that's true, so for a new $85k (total) Range Rover used 100% for business, you could still write off $25k + $42.5K = $67.5k. Still not bad! This (currently) is supposed to go through the end of 2005 at least, so will probably still wait for the '06 Rover.

Its still in effect for trucks over 6000lbs and SUV's $25,000 + the bonus depreciation...Just bought myself a new "Work truck" (Chevy Silverado SS) that I modded the **** out of and just last week got my wife (of her choosing) A new Denali XL...And yes we own our own company. Hey, we're stimulating the economy...whats wrong with that???? You have to have some breaks in place to get things back on track and this was just one of many that in my mind was helping.....
