Question Question to those with window tint

Had a quick question to all you turbo guys with tinted windows. I am interested in getting my windows tinted but I was wondering if tinting the driver and passenger side window would require special procedures since the windows automatically lower and rise when opening the door? I know from past experiences that you're not supposed to open any of the windows for a few days after the tint has been applied, so I was just wondering if you guys had special procedures done for the turbo?

And one last question for people in the Boston area. Where have you guys gone to get your cars professionally tinted? I've used the Tint King before but was just curious if there were any other places that you guys would recommend.

Sorry for the long-winded post! Have a great morning!

No special procedure that I am aware of. You are correct that they should not be used for a few days. Check your local laws. I have two cars tinted and I do receive tickets......regularly. Ugh.

Window Tint in Boston

I had my TT tinted at Xtreme Clean in Weymouth on the recommendation of MSindi. They did a great job and have ample experience with 996s. Check them out....

No special procedure. The only thing is that once it's tinted you should wait about 3 days before lowering the windows. That's what they told me anyways..

Thanks for all your replies!

So you guys are saying that none of you had problems with the tint forming bubbles or peeling off when opening and closing the doors on the first day after it was tinted?

I didn't ... automatic raising/lowering of windows on door open/close has been around for years and most if not all tinters know how to compensate for it.

The place I used had a lifetime guarantee on bubbles and peeling. I saw a couple bubbles on the first install, so he did it again free. I have 20% all around and although illegal in Illinois. I never really get bothered especially if I am in Chicago. They have better things to do than harrass a guy for tinted windows.

I did my own and never had a problem. If the weather is still warm in your area let it set with the fuse out of the box as not to roll them up and down when doing the install and let them sit for about an hour. Go over the edge again in an hour and confirm they are good to go and you should be fine. I also like to push the seal inside the window so when I do roll them down the first time the cut line is always below the seal line. This ensures no issues down the road.

Thanks again for all your replies.

Msindi: Just curious, why are you not happy with Xtreme Clean's install?
