2006 C4S or 2004 Turbo?
kagangen,
Where in NJ are you located? You can usually find meets / gatherings to come by and check out the cars. I'm in northern NJ. You can check out my web site (locodemoto) to see some photos of the cars. We haven't met up in a bit but hopefully will soon.
The TT is a great car, stock or modified. I picked mine up last November and enjoy driving it, even as a daily driver. Can't wait to put my exhaust on!

I personally went through this exact same scenario half a year ago...and the 06 C4S I tested was highly modified (TA kit, Tubi Exhaust, HRE wheels...etc.) and supposed to be a good deal as well.
I just found that the thrill is not there with the C4S, versus 996TT. C4S is definitely a great car, but when I have choices, I went with 996TT with no regrets. You gotta see what you are looking for though...the newer bodystyle, newer interior, nav...the list continues.

Easy there...the interior of the 996 Turbo is not crap. The 997 is just a little more updated and nothing else. The materials used are pretty much the same quality. I have the full leather interior, and to me, it looks timeless.
Just a hunch, but I'm thinking the OP is the type of person that will enjoy the 997 more.
Turbo all the way. A proper 911 should be rear wheel drive. That's why they made the GT2 for the people who want to drive a real porsche. But a turbo still makes me turn my head. It's not worth turning my head for a regular C4S. I think the sharp taillights on the new 911s look too angled for such a smooth lined car and the interior is only nice on 997s compared with other porsches, compared with Audi, BMW or Mercs they are inferior. But only women look at interiors.
Here's my .02. I don't like to drive my turbo on the street anymore. Why? The cops, I got a bunch of speeding tickets. You will have to be very mindful when driving because you can easily be at 120mph before you know it. That being said, I found the best solution. I track my car and can drive 150 without fear of losing my license. And that is what this car was built to do. I would never trade down to a lesser Porsche. Would like to add a GT3RS, but that's not for going slow either.
gee i must have a crappie interior guess i'll start out hanging in the cats litter box and save gas!!! now if i can just get that neat exhaust sound outta the tirds in the litter box i can sell my 996
Choices.....
If you get the C4S, you will always want the Turbo... Last year I was in the same boat... I went with the Turbo... Go find the newest, lowest mileage Turbo you can afford. You will never own a TT and drive down the road and pass a C4S and say "wow, I wish I had a C4S"... However the guy driving by in the C4S will be saying "wow, I wish I had a TT". Bad interior.... You should ride in my Chevy!

another vote for the turbo.
I also have full leather and all the leather options (covers, vents etc)
IMO, the std 996 w/o any leather options is a bit austere, but teh full/full/full leather options really bring it up.
Yes, it no audi interior - but then its a not a cush/lux cruiser (easy there..) either.
Personally, I prefer the 996 interior over the 997 as well - call me old school, but it seems more *exotic* whilst the 997 could be mistaken for an acura interior.
dont believe the hype, the turbo is WAY faster than porsche's 997na numbers would make you believe...
