2006 C4S or 2004 Turbo?

I realize that this forum will probably be biased, but I am currently considering both cars. I like the 997 because of the newer body, upgraded interior and overall better semantics. The turbo is appealing due to its power.

What do you guys think, given that both cars are close in price, the turbo has a little more mileage, but nothing substantial, and the options are pretty similar?

thanks

Turbo no question...I think someone had a similiar question a few months back so you can probably also do a search and see the input there...

Also, I see a lot of 997 Carreras out there...but much more rare to see a 996TT or 997TT...besides, the newer body isn't going to mean much if all you see are the taillights of the turbo car!

Between those two: Turbo. The interior on the 996 is complete crap, but its not worth giving up all that power for. Also, the Turbo has something special about it that a standard Carrera simply doesn't.

Well, it sounds like you answered your own question. Don't waste the money on a turbo if your not going to drive it...

I dont think my 996 interior is crap- everything but the center console on mine is covered in leather... to inlcude the vent slats and speaker covers. It's pretty hard to call that crappy.

But I do think the 997 interior is much better.

It's no Lexus, but it's hardly crappy.

The interior is definitely not crap. I don't even understand how you can say that. To the OP, if you're not going to drive fast then why get a Porsche at all?

Do you like working on your car ?
If so, the TT is an incredible project car.

The normal 911 doesn't really give you a lot of options as far as modifying it. Every incremental HP costs a lot of $.
The TT on the other hand...I already added 150HP to mine since I bought it and did it for less than 5k$ in parts (there's a lot of good used parts available on this forum). Did all of the work myself. Very rewarding.

I've got the black interior with aluminum trim. Had a 997 owner tell me he preferred my interior over his. Don't like the new steering wheel too much. The doors on the 997 are nicer though.

It is not how fast you drive; it is how you get there. TT gets you the thrill you would never experienced from a C2 or C4.

Leather or no leather, 996 interior has always felt cheap to me, considering it is a car that had a $120k+ sticker. Perhaps calling it crap is a bit harsh, but its just not what I would consider "nice", especially for the caliber of car it is. Luckily, Porsche did not skimp on the rest of the car. Agree to disagree on interior, but I will agree all day long the 996TT is a badass **** overall

That said, I still think the 996TT is an amazing car and at least the interior is better than a Z06, lol.

I guess my point is, the only thing I can think of that is better on the '06 C4S over the 996TT is the interior which, isn't a big deal IMO.

Had the same dilemma - so glad I made the right choice, I drove them back to back.

It's the C4S with ball$!

don't waste your money on a C4S. It's WORTHLESS. It's for the semi-rich person who wants to look good but not pay up for a turbo. On the the track, It's not too great. ou are better off with a C2S. On the road, it guzzles more gasoline. For the same price as a 2006 C4S you can easily get a 996 turbo. I'm actually in the same market as you are. Trust me, the 996 turbo is a daily driver, and a track queen.

Get the 996tt. If you keep it stock it still has more power than the C4S. It should hold it's value better too. There's always the question of modding. You can spend a lot of $ on the C4S and get very little back whereas you can spend the same (or even less) and get huge gains with the turbo.
