which tyre for 19's
which tyre for 19's
Hi looking for some advice on tyre choice, im running 235/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear Pilots just now but will be needing to change them soon.
I have got prices for the same size front but 315 /25/19 rears so what would you guys recommend .
I got quotes for Toyo Tr1's, Falken FK452 and Michelin Pilots ,with the Pilots being nearly twice the price of the other two.

Thanks for the reply i havent ran falkens before, i have used the Toyo's but only on a light fwd car not sure what they would be like on a 996 as the sidewalls are fairly soft.
I'm running the Toyos on my car. Same front as what you currently have.
315/25/19 in the rear.
Couldn't be happier and I ranPS2 before. My car is a DD.
Save my track stupidies for the Ducati

The 305/30-19 in rear is 4% larger around than the proper size 315/25-19. Assuming you are running that setup on a 996 TT, It is possible to overheat and damage the viscous coupling by overheating it.

Thanks Ari i had heard this before and its one of the main reasons i want to change tires, i have only recently got the car and it hasnt had the 19's on it for long so hoping no damage has been done.
I had the same thing when I bought my car; all seems to be well though, not sure how you could tell the coupling is damaged. Guys at the dealership didn't see the 305's as unusual, I went to the 315/25-19 a few months later.
I did notice some weeping around the front diff case drive shaft seals when I changed my oil. Not sure if it's related.
