My dream and worst nightmare
Well th problem is under the condition the dealer does have a right to not honor the warranty and legally it will be tough to get anything done here. My advice from dealing with all kinds of dealerships is to take it somewhere else and don't mention anything about the other dealership.
"A few hours later I get a call from Rusnak telling me that the car has had one Stage II over rev"
What is a "stage II" over rev? With rev limiter, the only real chance of over rev is wrong gear, wrong speed (80 mph and drop it into 2nd), no?

Try a different dealer and do not mention your experience with Rusnak to them. I am tending not to listen to Rusnak after telling you they need to pull apart the engine. Most dealers now usually just try to replace the entire unit rather then searching for a fault with internal parts. Sounds like they may trying to take you for a ride. I would try another dealer near you and see how you fare there before taking any serious legal steps. Best of luck and please let us know how you make out.

My independent tech always tells me that Rusnak is a crappy dealer for service & parts. He suggests McKenna for warranty work.
Also, he has LOTS of experience with 996TT work...I'm sure he could give you a second opinion for not a lot of money. PM me for the info if you want (he's in san dimas).

Rick, or Dominic at Mckenna are awesome guys.... call them and tell them that you are a 6speeder and I am sure they will help.... Arling from Lucent will steer you in the right direction... sorry to hear that man.. really sucks ***... good luck and keep us posted...
Steve >> Rusnak's service department is downright SAD! I had taken both my previous C2 and my previous TT there numerous times for reoccuring issues and the problems was never resolved. I don't know if it's due to their mechanics' lack of knowledge about these cars or what. Do your car the justice it deserves and take it down to McKenna, I'm sure they'll be able to help you out. The drive is a bit further but it was well worth it for me.
Oh, and about the POS rental from Rusnak, demand the SA to give you a complimentary upgrade because of issue.
Best of luck!

Anyone else bothered by all the "Big Brother" numbers coming out of the car's computer. To me, it's just more ammunition for lame *** dealers and manufacturers to put the blame on us as drivers or "your modifications". When I had my car in at the poorer than poor South Shore Porsche and they didn't find a loose clamp hose for $100+ diagnostic time, the SM was quick to point out that my car had been to redline many times in its low hours. Maybe they need to wake up to the fact that these are performance cars and we will want to drive a certain way or do certain things. If they don't, hopefully they will find their clients buying somewhere else or from some other brand.
