Changing Brake Pads for the mechanically challenged

When it comes to the track, I am definitely a novice. Even so, I have managed to toast 2 sets of stock brake pads. The first time is running stock fluid, the second time with ATE Super Blue. So, I decided I needed track pads next spring.

Anyway, I drove a Carrera S with Pagid Yellow's on the track over the summer and they were just spectacular. For daily driving they can be quite noisy, so I have been searching for a reference article so I could change my pads to Pagid's for the track and then back to stock and bleed the brakes before going to the track. Found a well written article about changing pads and thought it just cannot be this easy. Sorry if this is a re-post

Anyway, changed out my street pads this weekend for the first time (cause I toasted mine at Gingerman last month and they were squeeling like a garbage truck) and it is very easy (and I am very mechanically challenged).

Yeah, thanks for putting up with all of the PM's over the past month and a half. I am sure I was starting to drive you up a wall. In the end, you were right...really easy and nothing to worry about.

brakes only get hard when the rotors dont come off or the pads dug into the rotors so bad you have to beat the calipers off due to not turning the rotors when changing pads.

been there with no tools ata storage unit trying to change someones brakes ona beat up cheap neon that went 3 pad changes without machining the rotors i beat so hard on the calipers and rotors to get them off i broke the rotor when it came off pretty amazing i didn't know rust was so strong =)

Now get some better brake fluid for the track or you will be having the pedal go to the floor even with race pads. Because of the turbo's weight, you need Motul 600 or SRF. No need to bleed the brakes when you have the good stuff. Ask me how I know.

I already know how you know....lol

One of the first things on my list next spring.

Any thoughts on Endless Brake Fluid - or just stick with the Motul 600

Kind of a related topic...it's getting time for me to change my pads on my '02 Turbo... What is a good performing street pad that doesn't leave so much damn dust? Or am I better off just going with OEM again?

I read good things about Minitek pads. Low dust and good bite.
