Lol...totally agree on that. They got my answer, but I have to call and ask for it.

+1 on plugs. An ecu tune as well with higher boost and mileage and that's a common thing. Buy an 80 dollar obdii scanner and see if you have any misfire codes.

Yep, this happened to me earlier this year and new plugs fixed it. Same sputtering above 4k rpm like you. I just tolerated it for a bit longer than I would have liked until I had a bunch of stuff to install at once.

And no that mechanic is not reasonable. He is fired.

Yeah, that mechanic is a dork, BUT, if he is really that GOOD and is busy, then you may have to wait. No way to know for sure until they do something to see if they are any good.

My local non-Porsche mechanics are expensive and always busy, but have been the first place in my life where I haven't had to take my vehicles back for them to fix their mistakes... They have my business for life! Then again, they always tell me it will be a few days, but so far have always gotten me in sooner...

I have a running joke about roofers here in town. If you can get one to show up on time the first time, fire them cause they probably suck. All the good ones are booked up...

Just my $0.02.

I would tend to agree that you probably will need a set of plugs..Thats classic, esp if you've been running performance software for some time and are uncertain on service history. However, the shop should be checking the misfire counters and FRA/TRA adaptation values among other things in the course of diagnosis.
