Zippy,

At the time I tested the Fabspeed on my car, the car was producing approx. 526 rwhp. A little more than a Stage IV and a little less then the Stage IV GT.
What did the same setup render with the EP stage 2?

Lou,

I would have to go back and look at my sheets. Currently, Dave Colman has all my sheets for the article he is writing.

One other thing, I did not test the Fabspeed against the Europipe. I tested it against the Ruf. I stuck with the Ruf. I had these tests posted on Rennlist for about one year. I pulled them when I left the forum. I believe Fabspeed also had my S Car Go sheet posted on their website. As I recall the Fabspeed outperformed the Ruf in the 4000 rpm range. The Ruf outperformed in the 5000 and 6000 rpm range with the exception that the Fabspeed spiked at 6700 and in the 6000 rpm range that was the spot Fabspeed prevailed. I later tested the Stage II Europipe against the Ruf and the Europipe prevailed. When the Ruf/Europipe test was conducted the car was producing about 600 rwhp, so it really wasn't the same test as the Ruf/Fabspeed. Needless to say I bought the Europipe Stage II. Like I said above, currently I am running a 85 mm Europipe exhaust.

85mm They obviously made that one special for you correct? What does the additional width do, besides obviously increasing power

Lou,

It was made by special request. The 85 mm refers to the tube size. They flow more exhaust. In addition the sound is like nothing you have ever heard on a 996tt.

Chad,
Is there any possibility of hearing a sound clip of your 85's? I get weak in the knees when I hear my 70's on startup and I can only imagine what yours sound like. So, can you oblige?

You can really do it on a Camcorder and make a Wav of it. Pretty simple to do. Alex of course could do it with some of that Ghetto gear I am sure.

That would be fabulous!! Hey Stephen, would there be any benefit to convincing Stef to build me an 85er with my current setup?

I heard, and Chad correct me if I am wrong, Europipe had a hell of a time making that 85mm tube. I heard they didn't want to do it again. Is that true Chad?

msindi is infamous around these parts
I think CJV said this earlier and it is also in Bell's book that you only really need bigger exhaust tubing depending on how much HP per Liter your engine makes...

Stef, one of the owners of Europipe did not tell me the reasons why, but he did say that my 85mm would be the the only one made. Of course, that is entirely up to Europipe. It's a great exhaust. I love both the performance and the sound. If he changes his mind, that fine also.

Here's Bell's numbers for those that want to follow along in their story books, turn to page 270 now.

Engine Size (L).......Exhaust (")...........Exhaust (mm)
1.3 - 1.6..................2.25 - 2.50..............(57.15 - 63.50 mm)
2.0 - 2.3..................2.75 - 3.00..............(69.85 - 76.20 mm)
2.5 - 3.0..................3.50 or 2x 2.50........(2x 88.90 mm)
3.5 - 4.0..................4.00 or 2x 2.75........(2x 69.85 mm)
5.0 - 5.7..................2x 3.0......................(2x 76.20 mm)

The above pipe sizes apply to road engines developing 120-150 HP/L. Competition engines developing 200-250 HP/L will use pipe sized 0.5" to 1.0" (12.7-25.4 mm) larger.

It sounds like 70mm is good for up to 540 (chrank?) HP. The range between 540 to 720 HP seems to be left out of his calculations. This is unfortunate because a lot of guys here seem to be in this area. At 720 HP he suggests using 82.55mm - 95.25 mm.

Or so the story goes!
