TX2K10 - March, 2010 - Event Details
I take you are referring to tomorrow (Sat) and doing so because the chance of rain in the morning is low, but increases as the day progresses.
Good call.
Point of reference, I was out at Grandsport last Saturday in my car for the first time, had a couple of clean sessions (traffic being the main problem, imagine you guys had that also looking at those Supra times
), I was running high 1:05's. (R compounds, pump gas).
Great fun little track! Wish I was able to have attended this one..

The one thing they have in common is that they are both relatively short tracks, Grandsport being shorter. Other than that things are very different.
Positives: Grandsport offers very little potential for problems and damage to cars if you go off (unless you get in to the pit wall, but that would take some stupidity or some very poor luck). The track surface is very nice, no bumps other than lovely corner curbing. Using the extra loop in the configuration the track will keep you busy, is entertaining and great to learn your car and learn to drive it. It is very close to Houston. Not far to fill up with gas (like HHR no fuel available at the track).
Negatives: No clubhouse (porta-cabins only), no shop (for air, working on cars etc). No elevation changes - but the track configuration makes up for that in a big way. No on-site fuel available.
All in all I was pleasantly suprised with Grandsport, looking at photos had me thinking it was going to not only be desolate but also not that good, turned out to be well worth the visit.
Being this close to Houston it is a no-brainer for organizing track days, I wish the owners would invest in some facilities like a clubhouse, garage area with power, shade, it could be a really big success!

Great job Steve. I heard that you tore it up... Don't worry, I'll represent well this weekend.
I just wanted to chime in and say that the track day was a blast! Anyone that didn't go missed out because it was a perfect day for it and Peter made sure everyone was as well cared for as possible making it a ton of fun. Grandsport was a fun place and although it may have been a little small for the high hp cars (by the time boost comes on you have to brake again in a few places! lol) the shorter sections made it a great challenge to drive.
Good luck this weekend to everyone! (for my money I would have bet Ben on the 60-130 street tire class...if I had put a clutch in his car on time...SORRY BEN! Although I am biased towards this car...haha)
