they're dreaming unless there is considerably more Euro demand than they are currently expecting. a VERY large portion of orders are being cancelled in the US. as well, a VERY large portion of the allocations are actually Pcar dealers who bought allocations (ie: put up the $50k) to speculate on what they thought would be as much fun as the Enzo mark up. they won't sell all the planned US allocations at MSRP unless the Europeans come in to buy them cheaper owing to a cratering US dollar.

I read a letter directly from Porsche that stated they will build to suit demand.

That statement does not limit Porsche from building variants of the CGT such as an "S" model. This would be consistent with the rest of their lineup. And, at 612hp, the CGT's not putting out much more than an SL65. Think about what a CGT "S" would do to the value of the "base" CGTs.

there is one in the SF paper today with under 400 miles for $425K.

I guess the speculators are getting cold feet... and they better sell before their feet freeze off.

Yeah right!! Porsche marketing bull****. Just like the 2004 is the last year for the 996 Turbo. Just like they were selling 2003 Cayennes for 1 month and then changed to MY2004. Just like 2004 last year for the 996 GT3. If demand were higher they would build more guaranteed

I second that. But then it would be to much of a supercar. Oh wait, nothing is ever to much of a supercar.

"improvement in production timing"

"Improvement in production timing" means they want to make them all now if they can, so they can take the profit on their books sooner rather than later.

No actually, I think they are accelerating US production at the expense of Euro owing to the airbag issue which Porsche was trying to get resolved for CGTs made after 9/1/05. If they were unable to get that resolved, I'd not be surprised if this is what they're up to rather than losing 250 US cars for 06. They will NOT be able to sell all these cars at MSRP even if they did space delivery out. From another poster:

"You can see all of Porsche's filings here:

http://dms.dot.gov/search/searchForm...TOKEN=69547473

Do a keyword search for "Porsche" and then click "Reverse Order" in the results. You will see links to the petition 1/2 way down the page.

The petition concerning the CGT was for reconsideration. The most recent is dated 6.26.2003 I have been unable to find any further info.

Greg A"
