Respectfully, you are entitled to your opinion. Maybe for track and race use I would agree that continued slaughtering high boost pressures would take a toll on the turbos. But, I do not do that, and neither do most street users, they just want a little kick when they need it. In a run of 100 or so miles my turbos may only be asked to do this a couple of times the rest of the time is spent cruising. Mine work fine, have no trouble providing the pressures and I am very happy with what I have. I have tuned my wastegates down a little to get 1.3 sustained as opposed to 1.4 but that was just me wanting to keep things sane. Hot air yes, but Kick A#$ Hot air it is.

Anyway that is what water injection is for, to cool it down.

Ditto.

Actually you miss the point...making POWER efficiently is not just about boost. Boost is only one of the components. Without the appropriate other pieces (AFR, temp of intake air, octane, timing, etc...), you won't make more power. In any case K24s just can't put out any more efficient power after ~1.2 bar. You don't have to take our word on it, talk to turbo experts...LOL here is a technical link for you

I was going to ask for performance numbers, because in the end, all the dyno numbers and boost pressures don't mean squat until you lay down some acceleration parameters.

What is all boils down to is, are we happy with our individual tunes? I am very happy with my tune, Boost, AFR, Fuel etc. I do not need bigger turbos for my application nor do I want them. The gauge(s) reads what it reads and the performance is noticable better from say 1.1 - 1.3/4. ON MY Gauges. This car is way fast enough for me and a lot faster than others I have owned.

Leaps and bounds over the stock tune and gauge readings.

I ran 1.3bar of boost on my K16 with external wastegates. Made a TON of torque. Now this was a while ago before people were doing anything outside the norm. So now I would go about it differently. See here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/pr...t-exposed.html

+1 on this advice

it is widely believed that intakes don't do much on these cars at your power levels.

Best bang for the buck is certainly a re-flash, but I think the next good mod after that will be an exhaust and diverter valves. My own 996TT has a re-flash only, so my next intended mod is likely exhaust. A simple re-flash (with nothing else) will probably leave you very satisfied for the short term and, if you want to keep your spending under control, might be a great way to go.

1. Reflash
2. Diverter Valves
3. Exhaust

Good luck to you, and enjoy your new car!
