I have heard (and read) so many conflicting stories on Clutches. Issues regarding throw out bearing install problems, Noisy, LWFW problems. Etc. Being somewhat analytical I have had a great problem in making a decision which one to get for a <650 - 700bhp application. I am STILL vascillating.

I have read a lot of posts about them and of course, as it should be everyone has their own opinions and gripes.

I only want to do this job once! I would like a LWFW option, and a clutch that is NOT at all noisy, (IMHO that would hurt resale regardless of the excellence of the product performance). Clutch feel is not so important. Function is.

It is just a matter of time before my stock clutch gives up the ghost, I do not have any doubt about that, as my car seem very fast, at least to me. This is based on my SOP (Seat of Pants) Dyno, I have not had it properly done and most likey never will as those numbers are not so important to me as how she feels to drive.

I love the Caddy add that says "when you turn your car on what does it do for you?" That is measured by the SOP dyno, in my opinion anyway.

I went with the SPEC stage 2 plus and SPEC LWFW for my car. The take up is pretty good with minimal chatter and isn't terribly noisy at idle.

One thing I have noticed about performance clutches is that they generally engage much higher than the stock clutch. I installed the RSS clutch stop (minus the bolt as it was making it too high) to alleviate that. Takes all the extra unused slop out of the clutch between shifts and brings it much closer to the engagement point when taking off from a stop. My clutch went from engaging at 3/10th's (OEM) to about 8/10th's (SPEC) so it felt like it was taking forever when moving the clutch off the floor from a stop.

hard to sell a car with a LWFW and clutch that makes moise, unless they have experience in the area.

ClutchMasters Stage 3 with the ClutchMasters LWFW or stock dual mass. Easy to drive every day and will hold the power. I use it in my car!

Don't the GT3 and GT3RS both have lightweight flywheels and noisy clutches from the factory? It's a honest question. I had heard that they do.

Speaking of clutches, how long should a stock clutch on a 2005 99TT last. Assume no burnouts, racing, etc.....just good old fashioned driving.

T2 is at 240,000 miles or some absurd thing on his original clutch...and he tracks the car.

Says a lot about his ability to rev match...
