First Mod
6speed? Tip? X50? What's your budget? Bank to you and bank to me are likely two different things! Exhaust is a big one but finding one that won't drone could be tough. There's a mod to drill a hole in the stock exhaust that looks like it would be helpful and is obviously free to do. Won't replace the huge benefits of an exhaust system but it's a start. Flash for sure! 500HP at the wheels or flywheel? Needs more info.....
P.S. Diverter valves ever been swapped out? Are you doing the work or is someone else?

But a flash is considerably cheaper.
Flash first, exhaust / suspension second and third, depends on which you value higher - sound/power or handling.
Ideally, do all three and you will be in great shape.

John, I'm surprised that you'd suggest that order as if you get a flash for a stock exhaust, he may need a reflash if he gets an exhaust. I'd go with an exhaust and dv's first, then get a good flash and tune.
I was had the same question when I got my car a couple of months ago.
I decided to do the ECU flash first. Got it from Dan @ Vivid and it was the easiest mod I've ever done on a car. Don't see how you can beat it for cost, convenience, and effectiveness. The difference it makes is hard to believe. There are other reputable vendors on this site that have the ECU flash available as well and you should talk to each of them.
Next I'm adding a 3" exhaust from Markski @ 911 Tuning.
You're going to find out that starting the mod process on these cars is easy - it's the stopping that will be hard.

yep i agree about the stock susp. (in a 01 anyway)put pss9s on mine would never look bach except in fear. key is get air in get air out.... you will have to change the flash as you mod. example new turbos with a stock ecu will run like a rambler.... i would turbos, air box exhaust, piping and flash if u can do it all at once don't run around with all that stuff with a stock ecu... good luck it never stops till u run outa funds
Scott,
This is why I recommend the flash first - A flash is a much bigger performance increase than an exhaust and all flashes are based on an aftermarket exhaust, so there is no need to change the flash when you get an exhaust. In the mean time, the car will run just fine with the stock exhaust.
