Houston meet up

Car looks great....and I thought I had the mod bug bad....Lets meet up sometime you are in Houston!

I am interested to see how much your supporting mods (plenum, TB, headers) help a base 16G car like myself.

Are you interested in a track day at MSR 3rd weekend of August?

Won't be able to make it in August (or Sept or Oct for that matter). Could possibly after the new year. Do we do a DE here in Texas somewhere? I'd like to get out on a track and just drive on a course where I don't have to worry about tickets...

I look back now and think how ridiculous the restore was. I have upwards of $70K in this now and will never see anything near that in return. I don't plan on selling it though, so we'll just drive it and enjoy. Power is explosive and looks are just like new...

Still would like a GT3 someday, but not at this time.

John, you should come to the next PCA autocross in Midland. It is happening next month (august) It is "only" a two hour drive away... Might be a little tight to test your super horsepower but fun enough to try your suspensions

here is a little video I took when I was on flag duty:
http://www.youtube.com/topspeedcom#p/a/u/0/hxdRA2LTJlQ

It is rather big for an autocross. And definitely the closest thing to Lubbock.

Car looks fantastic, let me know should your crazy mind decide to sell it

Phil.

Phil, I'm already a member and actually went down there in April and observed for a couple of hours. The course is a little too tight for me and there were a couple of other turbos and a GT2 that also sat out and watched. I'd look like a snowplow scooping up the cones on every turn. I doubt we could ever even get it up to boost on that course and the Acuras and Hondas would eat my lunch!!! It looked perfect for a Miata/S2000/914 type car. Now, if they'd open up the entire runways, tarmac, etc., that would be a different story. Still haven't run into you although I did see an Arctic Silver 996tt driving around town the other day.

John

PM me a little before the XCross and I'll try to get down there.

Well. time to say, "Adios!" to all you 996tt'ers. I've decided to trade it and my Ferrrari 456 in for a almost new Audi R8 V10 Spyder. I've done pretty much all that I care to do for the turbo. It got to the point of ridiculous at one point but we had a lot of fun. My son and I learned quite a bit about the car and it's going to be a fantastic car for somebody. RUF (RAC Performance) will be handling the sale and we'll be taking them down on Friday. Thanks again for all of your advice over the years and watch out for the tail lights of a white R8 Spyder!

Best wishes to you John, and I sure hope you can find a loving new home for that gorgeous 996TT! Don't be a stranger around here as I'm sure there is a sub-section that would cater to your new and awesome R8 V10 Spyder.

Well Dan, I plan on doing three major upgrades to the car right off the bat...

1. Audi Care maintenance
2. Extended warranty
3. Personalized license plates
4.

I'm not sure how you could make this car much better. It's loaded out with high power, reliability and good looks. I'll probably sit on this one and do nothing but drive with a smile all the time...
