Thinking about the 997 front end conversion...
GT2 bumper -> talk to Precision Porsche, they make a very goodlooking and durable one in some type of glassfiber.
I rammed mine into the ground (freeway bumps) like 100 times due to low ride height and super sucky freeways around LA - at one point early on (when car was setup for track) it REALLY sounded bad and I was like "sh***t think I broke it..." to my fiance who sat next to me.
Stopped for gas shortly after and there's absolutely no damage. Even did a really thorough inspection before the track event to see that lip and front were intact, and all screws underneat, and also afterwards on a hoist when I was changing pads. No cracks, no ripped holes where the screws sit, no cracked paint.
This thing is unbelievably strong in contrast to a lot of comments in the "polyurethane vs frp" discussion.
The good thing is the shape is so nice on this one and Precision Porsche were really great guys to deal with when I got it.

MR White, I love your perspective on most things... That said, I am just soooooooo weary of going with a fiberglass aftermarket from bumper cover. Everyone of the covers I've seen has been cracked, chipped, and like "ricer-ish" 6 months into the "life" of it... The Eurethane OEM parts just seem to flex better without cracking... I'd love to know the make of the one you had, because the OEM GT2 stuff is EXPENSIVE to do right, and I wouldn't do it without doing the whole raditator/plumbing conversion as well.

Steve, who gave you shyte for having a chrome "S" on your car? Did yiou ask people's opinion on how it looked on the car or did someone see it in a photo and comment on it?
At the end of the day, It's your car, tell them to pound sand.

Here is my complete conversion. The front end is easier than converting the back, but it still isn't just a bolt on deal. I also don't think your car would look better with just converting the front and not the whole car, but maybe you can do it in steps. Feel free to pm if you have any questions. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...onversion.html

Now, if I could find some Carbon Fiber replacement emblems... ;-) Not sure how I'd feel about doing the whole front end as a 997 but I really do like the LED strips etc. up front and followed the thread on that conversion too. Sadly my Techart stuff doesn't lend itself well to this. I will second the thumbs down on most 'glass too <sigh>
Edit: Okay so I'm reading that amazing transformation thread Joe put out there. I think this post pretty much sums up what it takes to do the front end conversion

My list is like this:
1. OEM
2. blank
3. blank
4. Good poly replica
5. Close shave between good glassfiber and decent polyu
6. poor polyu
7. poor glassfiber
OEM was out of question for my liking pricewise. 4. I have yet to see or hear about one. 5. Most "decent" polyu is a really ricey mix of fiber and something else, but I got warnings reg fitment and bubbly/wavy surface and that I DON'T want.
My fiance broke the front on my previous car (350Z) when I had one of the modern polyu fronts on. She just made a u-turn a little too close to the kerb and snap. It looked like broken glassfiber but couldn't be fixed b/c the mix. It had great feel to it pushing the surface with my hand and it would flex, but in the end it's not magic.
So I went with the Precision Porsche for good looks on some demo cars. In the shot below, my car with the Precision Porsche one. I picked it up myself since I live 15 minutes away. http://www.precisionporsche.com/
In the pic I have JUST taken the car back onto the road after a SUV lady hit the car so I had a few things left:
- I had just replaced fenders and lights and front.
- I had NOT adjusted the lights and headlight trays - especially the driver side one was too close to the hood and made the gaps look not 100% at the lower and outer part of the light (fixed now).
- I also did not install the rubber seals under the lights and not the ducts or black OEM trim that is supposed to sit inside the bumper.
However, I did have functional GT2 center radiator done (function before form).

The red thing is the transponder + ziptie.
Anyway, not a bad looking replica front. It's not wavy, it's not too wide somewhere or too narrow, it's obviously much stronger than I thought and it's not heavy compared to my old OEM TT skin.
And right now they have a $800 special!!! (dang I think I'll go get a spare!) http://www.precisionporsche.com/specials.html
