Thinking about the 997 front end conversion...

I sourced out all the OEM parts needed for the conversion (with GT3 bumper), it should cost ~$3500-$4000, plus labor and paint.

I think it would looks really nice, does anyone have pics of their conversions they can post?

I saw this on ebay today, and thought it looked nice, but with all the OEM goodies more than I wanted to spend. Based on your stated dollars, seems more in line for you. I have no affilliation with this ebay post

oem lights, turn signals, side markers, fender, bumper and hood...only problem is fitting the oem fenders, I need to find a shop who can do it properly

all parts come up to around $3500-$4000 + misc screws and what have you

Good for you. I don't think it's worth it unless you go with the 997 headlights.

As much as I love the 997 front end I like the 996 for what it is. I think if you want to do it right you have to get the 997 quarter panels to go with it.

I agree...looks like a bit of a mashup...confusing to the mind's eye. would be a rare sight, though.

Looks great, but too expensive to do properly (waste of money).
Believe me, I know about non-recoverable money in this model.

IMHO,

The problem you run into is that you get a nice looking front end with a little extra rounded fenders, but then looking at the complete car the rear quarter panels look strange, low and kind of sagging. It's a tough design mix to pull off, make sure you look at a lot of pics before pulling the trigger, it's a pretty hefty pricetag.
