P.s. I have not seen the wheels yet because I had them shipped to my brother in laws place to avoid confrontation with the better half, at least untill I can come up with a good excuse as to why I needed new wheels
Thats a great point. I've done business on online auction sites for a long time and I will never buy from someone that does not have the item in their possession at the time of the listing.

Especially true if it's someone that states that they're selling something for a friend.

Unless I can go look at it, or have someone I know look at it before the purchase, it's a no go.

I used to be a lot more trusting, but, like many other, have been burned too many times.

Great to hear that you finally got your wheels though! Hopefully they're the right ones and there are no further chapters to this story

I once thought I was burned. Was buying a block and rotating assembly and the silly thing just wasn't being shipped. Got all of the same excuses about it being at a buddies shop and that he wasn't in the area anymore blah blah. It started to get a little ugly and I was getting paranoid when lo and behold the buddy from the shop called me, apologized, and the thing showed up on a pallet as advertised! What a relief that was! I for one am often horrible about shipping stuff even for friends so I seldom sell anything just because I know I'm a slug. If i'm going to sell something I will probably have the silly thing boxed and ready first just to make it easier for myself I think calling the bluff and having a UPS guy show up was an awesome idea BTW even if it didn't end up being needed! P.S. I DID get burned once though. eBay of all things. Ordered motorcycle coils and got motorcycle magazines. Seems the guy who wanted magazines got coils! Guy tells me he's informed the coil guy of the mixup and given HIM my address. I ship the magazines - no coils. Thankfully not a lot of money, I was only wanting them as spares for the Supra anyway but geez.

+1 on that!

Add the aforementioned law firm letterhead, and you have one POWERFUL combination of influence at your disposal!

I have been burned selling on Ebay when the purchaser opened a paypal account with his girlfriends credit card and then she claimed the card use was not authorized.

I have been burned on an engine purchase and I contacted a skip tracer that was on the same forum. In 2 hours he had the guys work address, home address, bank accounts and a bunch more personal info. Nothing like calling up the sellers work and speaking with his boss! It also works wonders to speak with his wife and let her know that there is pending police and legal action coming his way. my engine shipped the next day!
