How will this spill over into Porsche.........
Is total BANKRUPTCY the end result......
Several other nations are already lining up for a piece of meat.
Several large national law firms have already started CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS .
This will not end well.............

General Motors' conduct in the ignition in the ignition switch case killed many people. The latest new reports put the death toll at 169. And yet not a single individual has or will be charged with a crime. Another reminder of why I have never considered or bought a General Motors product since my horrific 1981 Chevrolet Caprice.
VW will suffer a big blow from its own bad behavior. Fortunately, unlike GM, that behavior didn't kill or hurt anyone
GM did file for BANKRUPTCY .......................
The real owners of GM, the Bond holders were destroyed............
The unions were made 100 % whole and new owners of GM.
The communists in Washington broke all the finance rules with this engineered default .
Maybe Fiat will buy VW ?????????????????????????
They would love to get a fabulous company to fix their product mix.........
The new too big to fail.......... in the EU................
I also stopped buying GM 30 years ago ........

True but the default wasn't because of the switch issue I don't think. It had more to do with years of channel stuffing and a captive finance arm that produced more profits than the real business of building and selling automobiles.
iT IS JUST THE FACT THAT MANAGEMENT OF GM FAILED .
VW MANAGEMENT HAS ALSO FAILED..........
I WOULD LOVE VW TO SPIN OFF PORSCHE INTO A NEW COMPANY......

TO PAY THE COSTS...........

But, I think the fines need to be commensurate with the crime. No one died and while this was a terrible lie to the people, in the scope other companies (not just auto cos) crimes, I don't put this on top of the list. Certainly GM was far worse... but Govt. Motors didn't really pay too much. Under 1B in fines.
Yeah I own a 2012 Golf Diesel and a Cayenne diesel. I wonder if this spilled into Porsche/Audi as well. The diff is that the Cayenne I add urea to "clean" the pollution for the golf I do not have a urea system. I read where they (VW) have tried to fix the software and it still fails, even adding a urea system didn't work. This should be interesting for sure. how will they fix this. The worst maybe be that the head of Porsche is now the CEO of VW.
A couple of thoughts...
Mueller, if selected today, is likely to change the entrenched mindset at VW against electric vehicles. If the company is significantly impaired financially, which certainly may occur, the German government will likely step in and help. The best way for VW to repair its damage, aside from compensating diesel owners and paying fines, is to produce compelling electric cars.
Don't know what the small diesels sold in Europe have for software, but if it is the same as the system in cars sold here the EU will have to be tough on VW. If not, the political bargaining may lead to lower fines here given the prospect of a trade-off for more lenient treatment of Google.
All of the above is my speculation. It is truly incredible that the engineers at VW believed that their deceit would not be discovered.
My bigger concern is that Mission E will be delayed because of lack of funds. VW and Porsche's response to this disaster should be to accelerate development and production of all electric vehicles and build a robust network of charging stations. Such electric vehicles must have performance that is better than its current diesel offerings and be priced competitively. VW will also have to produce cars far more efficiently than currently with its bloated workforce. This will be very difficult with the employment practices of the company that has significant labor and union board votes, but nevertheless necessary to be competitive.
