Can you disconnect Passenger Air Bags?

Can I disconnect my passenger air bags in my 2004 996TT so my 9 year can ride safely in the front or not? I did a search on this but could not find any info.

yes. you have to buy an airbag deactivition bar that is plugged into a plug under the passenger seat. Then you need to aquire a buckle (not sure if you have to buy a porsche car seat to get one, or if you can purchase separately) that goes into a "seat belt like" receptacle attached to the deactivation bar. Once the buckle is in place, a dash light will flash for a few seconds indicating that the pass. airbags have been deactivated. I bought my deactiviation bar from a dealer, and then bought a used seat on ebay to get my hands on the buckle. good luck.

yup. I just cut it from the car seat I bought, and use it with my kids' standard booster seats (the Britax seats are identical to the porsche seats, and fit perfectly).

Checked with my local dealer here in Canada & Porsche no longer offers this device here in Canada. I am guessing it must be due to some type of liability issue. I will have to find something in the states I guess.

Found the decativation bar for around a couple hundred bucks, now just need to figure out the belt clip to turn it off. I don't need a seat as my daughter is big enough to sit in a regular seat however the decativation bar is useless without the buckle inserted obviously.
