HELP - Leaking ABS Control Unit

So I had the Brake Fluid Level Light flash on me the other day, and pedal went mushy. Went in to have it diagnosed at a Porsche Dealer (since I was nearer there than my own shop). They said there was air in the lines, and then did a fluid flush/replace and bled the lines.

Took my car down to my regular shop to look at some other minor issues identified by the dealer - and my shop told me that I have a leaking ABS control unit and that this needs replacing. Apparently Porsche is on their 6th version of this part since the car was new and thus appears that this is a problem part for the 996TT.

Does anybody know any things I can check or do, or places I can look to avoid paying over $2k to replace my ABS Control Unit?

Thanks!!

There are folks that 'rebuild' the ABS modulator/pump... although I've never had to replace one. I'd frankly be very cautious with who does the rebuild.

I'd also ask the P dealer why they took $300 from you to service a system that was effectively 'unserviceable'.... (if the ABS is definitely bad)

Yeah - my shop definitely tells me: "the ABS Control Unit is leaking - due to a broken/cracked seal inside".

I am in the process of getting the P Dealer to refund my money - I got charged for a diagnosis and a brake fluid exchange - they didn't find the source of the problem - and the fluid they put in didn't stay in, so hopefully, I can get them to refund!

Anyone have inputs on things I should physically check re: the ABS control unit??

OK - so I got the ABS control Unit, but am also told that the Electronic Sensor (located under the console?) also needs to be replaced - as when you put a new ABS control unit in - the old Electronic Sensor will not read the new unit - and thus the ABS will not work.

Is this true? Are there workarounds for this? My shop says there are not, but want to know if others have done it themselves?

I have a ABS unit that i bought that i do not need, I only needed the Module for mine.
The module is interchangeable you can reset the code with the Durametric. I am not 100% sure but if i put a used module on mine then i am sure it would be the same.
