too many type ii over revs?
I'm not sure the rev limiter not keeping up is the problem...it is entirely possible that the momentum created by all the rotating mass (especially in a awd) when the wheels break traction at high rpm could result in a mechanical over-rev...but as you say, same result, a type two is registered...if the rpm redline can be safely upped to 7,000 then the type II over-revs shown would not be as serious...it is too bad that the 996 doesn't log the rpm range of the over-rev like the 997 cause there is no way to tell if that over rev was at 7,000 or 8,500 rpm
for your edification...I have never said you couldn't get a type II without a missed downshift...secondly, I have explained how spinning the wheels can result in a mechanical over rev which in a 996 will register a type II...certainly, raising the rev limit by flashing or tuning will result in lots of type II's on a 996 and those would not result in the damage a missed downshift would likely cause...so your condescension is not necessary
since a Type II is supposed to be a mechanical over-rev I am curious as to how you can register a type II by breaking traction since the rev limiter should preclude the engine from going past redline
A Type 2 is an o... (from your own thread) LOL
Yes. Again, I think too much is made of this.
Some tuners reset the redline at 7400+ I can't see how an over rev or 100 to 6701 RPM is scary.
