Question Coolant leak up front ?

Folks,

Before I start pulling the front bumper, can sombody please throw me a bone as to what could be going on over here ? Some coolant seems to be dripping just in front of the right front wheel.
The level in the rear expansion tank had to be topped up considerably.

Nothing really out of the ordinary happened with the car. It spent 2 days at Atlanta airport in a covered parking lot. Yes, it was cold (for Atlanta), but nothing the car wasn't build for.

Your advice is appreciated.

Thanks !

You got plenty of anti freeze in her? Could have frozen and pipe and split due to expansion in fluid (unlikely) or maybe a rad has decided to let go. Mine has cooling pipes with a join in that area - crank over the steering on full lock and take a look for leaks

Yes, I just topped it off. Had lost some though, so something is definitely going on.

I also noticed a drop of coolant on the left side. Dang, seems to be going on on both sides. Is this common ? Anything to do with my mods ?

Itzjstacar is infamous around these parts
Dear Yves,

You need to be sure what is leaking from front of car. Antifreeze? Your comment about expansion tank level low means antifreeze leak is very possible. Your comment that it is on the other side as well could mean power steering fluid as well but not as likely sounds like another antifreeze leak. Whichever it is, it is serious enough to say do not drive it until it is looked at more closely.
Coolant/antifreeze should be pink or possibly green. Should feel slimy. Don't taste it, but should taste bitter. Power steering fluid should be green. Should feel slimy, and oily. Should smell like the oil on the dipstick of the p/s resivoir.
I suggest put a piece of white paper towel under the front end and see what you have.
If coolant, you need to take front wheels off and undo front fender liners to see if rads and hoses are ok. Center rad may need you to take off screws under middle of bumper cover and have a look in that area. It may lead you to taking the front bumper cover off intirely.
If it is p/s fluid you will need to inspect the rack/lines and bellows for leaks. The sooner the better. P/S fluid makes a messs of rubber and will not get better.
Is it possible the A/C is leaking? You will know if it is not working.
Also a dumb question but did you overfill the washer tank? May explain only the left side.
I hate to suggest it, but if it is coolant coming out at hose connections/rads not due to damage from parking curb under rads or rubbing wheels or something damaging externally. It is probably internally and overboosting, creating pressuizing head gasket coolant area and blowing out at weakest link, clamp hose connections, rad.
Hope this helps,
I

Just happened to me. The driver's side radiator was leaking and had to be replaced. It was around $1200 to replace it with labor but my Easycare warranty covered most of it. Mine was only dripping slightly.. Make sure your temperature is increasing due to the leak.

Good luck..

This looks like leaks at the side radiators. You need to pull off the fender liners, but I think that the front bumper can stay on. It could be just a leak at the hose connections, which would just require you to tighten them. A lot of folks have had leaks at the radiator seam, though. Hope it's the former.

Fold the inner fender liners aside and check that all the hoses are still "clipped" in. There is a big hose and a smaller "vent" hose on each radiator. The vent hose came off on mine...what a mess. Search my threads.

BTW, it's only a 10-15 minute job to get the front bumper cover off...Wayyy easier to see what's going on...

the TT has an unfortunate tendency to build up debris in those front air ducts combined with the paper thin aluminum radiators equals leaks... same thing happened to me...
