Resale value with a unique colored interior
I know this is hard to nail down, but how much does a uh, unique colored interior affect the resale value of a car?
This car has one of the navy blue interiors, body colored painted front sport seats. I'd prefer a black interior, but the car is set up well and if it checks out in the PPI I'm strongly considering pulling the trigger.
It's Almo's car, if anyone knows the history of it, or has seen it in person and I'd love hear what your thoughts were.

Yup, talked with Tony already. I'm seeing if I can get the car up to Tony for a PPI and dyno. It does seem a little odd to resell the car so quickly...
While I'd rather have a black interior, the blue doesn't bother me all that much. Just wonder if the uniqueness of the interior color will turn off other people when the time comes to sell it...

Yes those odd color interior make resale a VERY DIFFICULT task.. I have seen a teal color 996 turbo with matching teal interior for sale for 6 months and another black with red EVERYTHING inside from steering wheel to dash, to seats, door panels you name for sale for months as well.. People tend to like the Black, gray, Tan, interiors best..

Everything on this car is blue inside. The dash, the steering wheel, seats, carpets, door panels, the whole thing.
If everything was black except the seats that'd be easy enough to swap over, no such luck, I bet the headliner is blue...
It reminds me of the early to mid '80's 911 SC's and Carrera's that had all red or blue interiors. I thought Porsche had stopped doing that...

The interior will really make it hard to sell. There are things you can do to minimize the interior (seats, dash parts, carpet) but all at significant cost. And still not really make it a 'wow' interior. Just 'less ugg'..

Doc,
I have been on the fence about the same car as well. The dark blue might look better in person as I recall many 80's mercedes were silver with dark blue interiors.
It's the right car at the right price with the right mods.
Tint the windows and the interior will look darker than it is!

Buy it because you like it and want to have fun with it, not because of what it might be worth to the next owner. It's going to depreciate with a black or a blue interior anyway - if it doesn't float your boat, keep looking, but stop worrying about what it might sell for when you haven't even bought it yet.
BTW - the interior on Almo's car looks great. I know the BBS wheels in the pics don't come with the car, but those wheels and that interior are a great combo that pop off eachother. I like this look much better than the colored seatbelts/console/seat backs, etc.
You probably want to the look at the color in person if you haven't already. I am guessing the interior is metropol blue which is the same that is in my car (silver body). It can be hard to tell the interior is blue depending on the light since it is so dark many people will think it is black at first glance.
I would be more worried about wood trim or the previously mentioned teal, red, interiors on the plastic parts as they will be more polarizing to buyers than a car with the black plastic, alumnalook, or carbon accent interiors.

IMO, if the car was further discounted for an amount equivelant to 50% of cost to redo the interior to satisfaction, i'd do it.
if the color is something you can accept, be prepared to discount similar to above when selling the car.
i looked at an all red interior. Thought about changing part of the interior to make it a black base, red accent scheme ie keeping the hard to color change pieces red such as air vents speaker grills etc... problem with this car is EVERYthing is color matched, steering wheel... carpet... all the base color parts.
metrolblue looks almost black. i thought it was black until the second day i already owned the car. haha.
