Do You Guys Think A NA 997 Produces A Better Sound Than A Turbo??
Sorry I have to ask this question, 
....
But I'm kind of confused, it sounds like the Turbo would make more of a muffled sound because of the turbos, but on the other hand the turbos could produce an "exotic" sound...?

turbos hardly ever produce an exotic sounds , with the exeption of the lambos etc, the turbos generaly tend like you said to muffle the sound some. with that said a 997 gt3 will ALWAYS sound better then a porsche turbo.

Turbos generally sound like crap. Agree with above. GT3 sound>>>>>TT

The flat plane crankshaft design of V8 and V10 motors of the ferrari and lambo gives its unique sound. Gt3's sound great too...but NA F430's and Gallardo's are the best sounding IMO. Stock 911 turbo has the most boring sound of any supercar.

NA engines usually have wider linear tone range as well as higher pitched when compared to turbo cars. compared to a straight 6 turbo, the 996tt has got to be the worse sounding turbo car I've owned. my guess is it's the flat 6 engine but I've heard better sounding subarus IMO. sounds like a diesel turbo truck or propeller plane.
But I still kind of like it, sound is raw Reminds me also a bit of front engine turbo'd track cars with straight pipes cos the porsche turbos are so near the exhaust outlets. scares the carp out of unsuspecting motorists/pedestrians. Car's power makes up for it.

The 997 Gt3 has a sound that is much better than turbo cars with any exhaust i have heard.. You wont get the same raw sound and gurgling when on and off throttle like an N/a Car... The F430 sounds just as sick too..
