When I bought my 95 993, sports seats were not an option. A year later a paid a small fortune to buy them from PCNA. When purchasing my 996TT I would not even consider a car without sport seats. They are good for both street and occasional track. If you plan to do a lot of track time, keep the supple seats for the street, then pull them out and put in one good track seat for track days (less money, better seat, less weight).

 

You can always bolt in a set of 996 or 997 seats they are fully interchangebale. Sport seats are available from time to time.

IMO the supple seats look "worn out" very quickly.
