12"gt2 rear with 295 tyre instead of 315
Hi guys wondering if anyone can advise me if it is ok to run 295 rear tyres instead of 315 on standard 996 gt2 rear wheels. I've been trying to find some 315/30x18 michelin pilot sport cups but have had no luck, the 295/30x18's are available but will these be stretched on a 12"rim and will it affect the ride and handling as my car is solely used for track days in uk and nurburgring.
Any help would be greatly appreciated in this or also help in tracking down some 315's
cheers in advance

I think 295s on a 12" wheel will not look good, and it will leave the lip of the rim way exposed to damage. My last Carrera coupe had this - I bought it with tires that were not wide enough for the wheel and it bugged me to no end. Plus - I can't believe it's safe to stretch it that much.
I just picked up some 295/30/18 Pilot Cups for my OZ 10 inch rear allegrettas from Damon at tire rack. He said the correct range for the 295 was 10-11 inches wide so I would not suggest it on a 12 inch wheel which is what I think the gt2 wheel is.
I would have gone with a OZ in 12 but the PScup tire availability did not seem to be there for that wide a rim.
