Texas Mile advice
I’m wanting to run my 2004 Stock 911 C4S this March and have a couple questions:
- I see we have to have a fire extinguisher installed
- Anyone know a good mounting area that I can remove after the race if needed?
- What can I expect my ride to roll in a standing Mile?
- 150 MPH?
- Any bolt on suggestions to pick up an extra 15 MPH in a Mile?
- How many times will I be able to run each day?
- Will I receive a MPH Certificate when I leave?
Thanks in advance

- I mount mine with 2 zip ties to the front of the passenger seat.
- What can I expect my ride to roll in a standing Mile?
- 150 MPH?
- A 997 Carerra S ran 155 mph last year so 150 is resonable to expect.
- Any bolt on suggestions to pick up an extra 15 MPH in a Mile?
- 15 mph is a huge increase That would probably require 50-75 additional WHP in your case. So unless you bolt on an SC, I would say no.
- How many times will I be able to run each day?
- You have to wait your turn so it depends how many people are running. Toward the end of the three days you can get more runs in but you will know what the car is going to do long before then. Additional runs are just hard on the car and extra risk for you, imo.
- Will I receive a MPH Certificate when I leave?
- If you take your speed slip to the appropriate area they will print you a cert. before you leave.

I bet you can hit 150
Super charger may work. But 15 MPH is a huge goal.
As many times as you want
(I wouldn't get one for anything other than 200+)

Sharkwerks has a Fire extinguisher/mount that mounts just in front of the passenger seat so it doesn't really even mess with foot room. Its completely removable as well, though, once you mount it, you probably wont even want to take it out because A. It looks really cool and B. added safety is always a benefit. Give them a call or email, they're a board sponsor too!
Todd you might want to check with the Texas Mile results they have your top speed listed at 196.128 not 197.1.. Just sayin...
A few more things before you run...
1. Carefully examine your tires for excessive wear. Look especially on the inside of the tread. This is where they wear the most due to negative camber. You dont want to be running on exposed belts on the inside of the tread.
2. Air the tires up to the max level specified in the manual. A low tire creates drag and more importantly heat which likens the chance of a failure.
3. Run with a quarter tank of gas or less to lower weight.
4. Take your first run at a moderate speed to learn how the car is going to handle and learn where you need to slow down and turn. You have a half mile to slow down which sounds like alot but it goes by in ten seconds at 180 mph!
5. You can tape crevaces and fold mirrors to lower wind resistance.
