Huge Props To UMW and Europipe
Huge Props To UMW and Europipe
Thank you Kevin and Stef for your work on my X50. The increase in power is one thing, but the "usability" of the power, and the amazing responsiveness was unexpected. That is far better than just the power.
My lag on the K24s has decreased by 70% if not more

The sound of EP is terrific, beautiful gurgle on let-off, and a roar at WOT.
But what I can't get over is just how quickly it builds power, and that it's there in every gear - 6th just used to be a "fuel-saver", but now it's as strong as can be and just pulls the car way on up into the far three digit land. Further than I wish to go with the current suspension. I swear I hit .6 bar in a blink, and pass .8 bar (previous limit) immediately thereafter, with the boost building on up to 1.3
It used to take a bit of time to get to .8 bar, and now it's just a quickly passing midpoint on the way to haulin' ***! I used to have to go WOT at apex just to get enough boost a few hundred yards later ... now it's just squeeze on the throttle and get whatever I want/need.
Bottom line is that this power curve is very usable, can't wait to get out on the track, and the car doesn't sound like quiet, demur little school girl anymore. It's sounds "proper." Love that off-throttle gurgle, the spool up and down on the turbos now clear as a bell.
Major Kudos to Kevin @ UMW for putting together very well balanced Stage One set-up and same same to Stef at Europipe for all his helpfulness and great customer service. What a beautiful product they make. Even the guys at the Porsche dealer were jealous of the exhaust note yesterday when I went in to look at some used HRE wheels they had (didn't fit -
)
UMW tuned the ECU, put on their waste-gate actuator kit, Bosch diverter valves, and installed the 100 cell EP Gen2Q.
According to UMW, I think we're at 520hp to wheels very safely on 92 pump gas. I'll likely ask Kevin for a 100 octane file for track days, and eek out a bit more.
Just wanted to share the joy. It's amazing what those K24s can do when you let them work.
Now I feel a $'s black hole forming in my garage ... growing larger ... deeper ... stronger ...

On a 2WD dynojet, absolutely.

Total project cost (tune, wga kit, dv, EP2, labor) ~ $7k for almost 100 HP increase. Very reasonable for the sheer quality that's sitting there. One of the best exhausts, with one of the best available semi-custom tunes (safe, usable power, responsive car); and Kevin and Stef both are easily reach by phone and always there to answer any questions or offer advice.
I'm right behind you. I have a UMW tune and I have a EP2 quiet on the way. What are the benefits of doing the Wastegates and DV?
Is it ok if I don't do them when the EP gets installed?

As for DVs, my understanding is that the OEM dvs leak with any kind of real pressure - Kevin has two options for you here. I went with the far less expensive path and am super pleased, and understand that they are easier to maintain vs/ billet AL DV valves. This is a must to replace, or else all that boost you paid for will just leak out.
Yes, yes, yes
K24s NEED upgraded wastegates with any flash

I'll let the more knowledgeable here speak up, but I believe the waste gate actuator is key, critical, for managing the power curve. I think the rapid build of power across the band is is large part due to the WGA kit. Don't skip that step. It's why the power build is so quick and holds. At least that's my interpretation. I could be all wrong on that.

Don't know about 2wd dyno's, but for a K24 with flash and exhaust I'd expect 520hp at the crank... up to 550hp depending how aggressive the file.
I don't have the wastegate kit but it seems to be something that people swear by... however the EvoMS kit appears to suffer snaped rods, as do other kits.... are the UMW wastegates stronger ?
