What chassis would you start with to build a 993 Speedster? A wide body coupe or a standard Cab?

How do you get a windshield? Retrofit a 964 speedster windshield frame/wind shied? Can you just order the windshield and frame from a 964?

I think only the red car is a Widebody (with TurboS ducts YUMMY)

993 cab. Turbo front is a bolton and the rear bumper and fenders and lights can be done by a decent body shop. Depending on how cut you are going to do the front wind screen you could use the OEM cab back assembly without the motors and micro switches.

I replaced a 993 cab top myself, and i would think that just buy having an additional panel sewn in you could get extension you are looking for, with a bit of fab to the frame.

I would personally go with the techart front end but I am biased. PM me if you want some 993 parts for the project, I have an OEM widebody rear bumper, and some nice side skirts and fendor vents left over from my project.

How does one go about getting a speedster windshield and windshield frame on a 993 cab?

You might look at starting with a 964 speedster. The most difficult body work (windshield and top are already there). Adding the front and rear ends of the 993 widebody (or turbo) although not easy, are closer to bolt on. The 964 motor is close to a 993 and you can prolly get close to 993 performance with bolt ons.

Thanks for the info. Just to make I'm not being a "poser" this is a dream project that someday I may start on. It just looks so appealing to marry a 993 Turbo S body (and engine) to a cab with a speedster windscreen..

It's like merging three of the best ideas ever to grace the 911. 993 TurboS Wide body (and turbo engine), 993 cab Chassis, 964 Speedster windscreen and frame.

I don't see poser there at all... Love the concept and the look... But I'm also one who doesnt' conform to purist mentality of "leaving well enough alone" and "if it didn't come from the factory..."

Ducgsxr is infamous around these parts
I remember there being an article in Excellence a while back about this very subject. I think the silver car was built by the factory for Seinfeld. The article was on the Guards car with 993TT S side ducts... Hope that helps
