help! blown both intercoolers 997 TT mod 07
I would definitely speak to your tuner. Sounds like this is a very strange issue. I know with the sport button on the 997 it has a boost increase (at least stock). That may have malfunctioned or something.
i had this happen to me, before i upgraded to bigger turbo's...its happening to u because u blew out the diverter valve that connects to ur stock turbos!!ur intercoolers are not the issue...this is why u r not making boost...u have to change the diverters, and i highly recommend since the car will now be apart, upgrading to a set of evoms boost recirculation valves...they are great..

You could drive your car with NO DVs and not have this issue. More than a few high HP turbo cars were built without blow off valves or diverters of ANY sort and didn't have this issue.
You guys really need to have a better understanding of how this stuff all works before throwing out ideas and suggestions left and right. Even if this were an overboost it would take tremendous pressure to blow BOTH tanks off. This was an explosion in the intake - simple as that.
Oh, check your MAF too - they tend to be delicate and if the pressure wave traveled that far it too could be damaged.
many thanx

100% with BLKMGK. It needs way more than DV faulty. (even there were 2 in case malfunction.) A lot of Jap mod cars do not even have BOV or DV. Your case is likely backfire. It could be cam timing or ig timing but somehow combustion went though intake pipe and IC yielded. You should open and see your turbo impeller as BLK said. It might take the shot of that burst too.(bent impeller tips are possible.) I would consult with your tuner because this is serious matter. I kind of disagree with somes who suggest high end IC. You might blow that expensive IC if you do not sort this out first. Hope you find it soon.
Did you miss his first post where he has pics of the end tanks BLOWN off BOTH his intercoolers?

Agree, everyone should stop and think about how much pressure it took to do this and what might have been the result had the bent tabs holding the end tanks on hadn't failed! This was an explosion in the intake tract with plenty of force, it could've been much worse....
ok friends,
today I inpected:
turbochargers for any damages (no impacts at all) , ok
brvīs are ok
no leak in charge sistem
both air mas sensor are ok

Need to get some datalog data on the car for both stock flash n modified
sounds like a vario cam issue, but I'd still check n make sure the wastegates
open at desired pressure.
Good luck great time for new intercoolers but something else caused them to fail

Wow you blew the endtanks off.. never seen that before...
here we introduced our stock replacement Bell bar&plate ICs all hand made here in Chicago.... they run anywhere from 20 to 11 degrees of Celsius cooler... that means POWER... and fit stock hoses...
